When I finally found Lisa, she was in an office at the far end of the lodge. She jumped at my presence as if I were a ghost. Maybe my face remained pale from my experience, but I didn’t care.

“Did you try to contact me?” I asked while looking around the room for a phone.

“No, I was checking these rooms.” She appeared flustered by my question. “I found the one Bob used.”

“You’re saying you didn’t come look for me after you found it?”

“No—what’s with the questions? Did you find something?” Her confused expression turned hopeful.

“No, show me Bob’s room!” I turned and walked away.

“Hold it! What’s with the attitude?” Lisa came out of the room and hurried toward me as I stopped.

“Just show me the room,” I insisted.
